Our faith is at the centre of everything that we do at St. Mary’s. We are committed to our faith community, fostering an environment where we educate the whole person and encourage everyone to reach their full potential.
The spiritual, moral, social, emotional and intellectual development of our students is paramount to a sound education. In partnership with parents, teachers guide the students to become inner directed people, who make appropriate choices, that are based on the gospel values of honesty, forgiveness, justice, compassion and equality.
Our program incorporates the Horizons of Hope guidelines and Religious Education Framework, (developed by Catholic Education Melbourne) which are supported by the “To Know, Worship and Love” texts produced by the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
Prayer and Liturgy are important aspects of the Religious Education program and all members of the school community participate in these regularly.
Liturgies and prayer services are planned according to the Church calendar, feast days, special school events or supporting a Religious Education unit. All year levels have opportunities to attend Parish Mass at least once a Term.
Students are encouraged to participate and lead prayers in classrooms during liturgical celebrations and at the Parish Mass. All classrooms have a prayer table, bibles and display religious icons and artefacts.
The feast day for St Mary’s is December 8 - The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We encourage our students to become aware of the needs of those less fortunate than themselves both in the local area and in the world. With Jesus Christ as their model, we encourage our students to take action to support a variety of worthy causes.
